Balancing School, Work, and Study Anxiety as a Student

student success Feb 15, 2020

If you’re a student, you’ve likely got tons of other things on your plate. Maybe you work full-time, or you have anxiety about your studies.

In today’s video, we talk about handling everything life throws at you to dominate in your schoolwork.

  • “It’s not enough to survive. It’s all about dominating.”
  • We all have so much to handle in our lives, especially as students. Handling study anxiety on top of everything else can feel almost impossible, but it’s possible!
  • Often, the issue isn’t the obstacle itself. It’s our perception of the obstacle.
  • If you’ve had a teacher or instructor put you down and say you’re not smart enough, you’ve GOT to stop that cycle. It’s just not true! You might’ve had this mindset ingrained in you, but you have to teach yourself that you ARE capable and can achieve college success.
  • Study anxiety often comes from falling short in the past. We all mess up and sometimes we don’t get the grades we want, or we just fail. Don’t let those past failures impact your future!
  • No matter where you’ve been or what you’ve done, you CAN change. You have to be willing to put in the work, step up your standards, and change your habits to make your dreams a reality.
  • It’s not enough to just have dreams. You’ve got to have PLANS. Come up with a concrete plan to achieve your goals with realistic steps, then take advantage of all the resources that are available to you.
  • Your skillset has to be more than average to set you apart from the pack. See where your weaknesses lie and improve them! Don’t try to justify your inadequacies; just acknowledge them and work to move past them.
  • Think about the future. If you’re just skirting by right now, you’re setting yourself up for failure in future endeavors. Improve your study skills and work ahead to get your grades up, become more efficient, and help your future self be successful.
