If you’ve been on the internet recently, you probably know about the dispute between singer Lizzo and fitness instructor Jillian Michaels. Surprisingly, we can learn a huge lesson here that’s impacting so many people trying to get into medical school.
Watch today’s video to learn more.
Lizzo is known for being incredibly body-positive despite her size, but recently, Jillian Michaels expressed a different opinion on the issue. She essentially said we shouldn’t be celebrating these body types because they can lead to various health issues.
Jillian Michaels is a health professional. She gets paid to help people get healthy. So, it’s really no surprise that she wouldn’t be supportive of a body type that is unhealthy.
There’s a difference between a “healthy body image” and a “healthy body.” Lizzo has a great body image, but the fact is that she does not have a healthy body.
This issue can actually relate to the struggle so many people have when getting into medical school. So many students have great student confidence, but their actual student health is completely not where it should be.
Many students don’t want to hear the truth. You might think you’re a great student, you have great study skills, or anything else. But if an expert tells you that you’re not where you should be to improve your grades or get into med school, you don’t want to hear it.
Of course, you should be confident, but that confidence should be grounded in the work you’re actually putting in every day.
You have to stop being lazy and look at where you can improve. Don’t settle for being the average. Look at your life and your study skills and CHANGE. You can love yourself and still try every day to get better.
If someone comes to you with advice, don’t shut them down because you can’t face where you need to improve. You can still be confident while admitting you’ve got work to do.
“Truth, reality, clarity is all that matters.”
